Erin Thorkilsen has been an educator in many classrooms including 19 years teaching yoga, leading workshops and international retreats, and 20 years working in elementary schools where she was awarded the “Goldenheim Award for Excellence in Teaching.” Currently a teacher of teachers, she co-leads 200 hour yoga teacher trainings, serves as the director of a new teacher mentoring program at a school in CT, presents at conferences and podcasts on topics such as mindfulness and social emotional learning, and is the founder of Heart in Education, a program that supports personal growth. Her yoga trainings are in Anusara, "Saraswati's Yoga Training," and Bob Cooley's "Resistance Flexibility."
In her yoga classes, Erin weaves healthy alignment and reflective questions into creative, soulful flows. She is known for offering the innate wisdom that comes from children as inspiration for all of us, inventive use of props, a gentle, encouraging tone matched with physically challenging classes, and her yoga and live music collaborations.
Ultimately, Erin seeks to guide students and teachers (in the yoga studio and the classroom) to remember and be who they are at their core through her own continued journey of learning who she is at her core. heartineducation.org
